A note on exploratory modeling with SmallDEVS

We could better call it "Interactive Exploratory Modeling". We use this notion for interactive exploration of the space of all models, even during a simulation run, in order to search for the right model. It is a process similar to the Exploratory Programming - a notion tightly connected with the style of programming for which Smalltalk has been designed years ago. A Smalltalk application is nothing but an extension or modification of the original Smalltalk - a system which has been incermentally developed in Smalltalk and by means of Smalltalk at runtime. Without interactive tools (which are integral parts of Smalltalk) such as code browsers, object inspectors and a debugger it could not be practically possible. We use exactly the same style of development for simulation models. – vj
